76th Republic Day of India celebrated in CADC
January
26, 2025: The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm
at Kamalanagar, Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) today. The district
administration organized a grand celebration at the Kamalanagar football
playground, which was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including
Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, MLA, 36-Tuichawng Assembly Constituency; Dg. Mohan
Chakma, Chairman, CADC; MDCs, and officials from CADC and the State Government,
village council members, and local NGO leaders.
The
Chief guest, Pu Lalnunpuia Renthlei, MCS, SDO(C) of Chawngte Sub-Division, in
his speech, highlighted the recent progress in infrastructure development,
education, rural livelihood empowerment, healthcare, and social welfare
programmes within the Sub-Division that have been undertaken by various
departments of the Government of Mizoram and the CADC.
The
march past featured six contingents, including those from New Angel Higher
Secondary School, Duloram Public Higher Secondary School, Nirvan Residential
School, Vijoygiri Academy and Public School, Kamalanagar. New Angel Higher
Secondary School secured the first prize, followed by Nirvan Residential School
in second place and New Angel Higher Secondary School (NCC Unit) in third. A
traditional dance performance by the Art & Culture Department of CADC added
a vibrant touch to the celebrations.
Earlier
in the morning, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the premises of CADC
Secretariat, where Dg. Mohan Chakma, Chairman, CADC, unfurled the national flag
as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, which included Members of the
District Council and employees of CADC, he paid tribute to the sacrifices of
the Indian freedom fighters and the Constituent Assembly, led by Dr. B.R
Ambedkar, whose work paved the way for the adoption of the Indian constitution
in 1950.
In
his address, Dg. Mohan Chakma highlighted India’s remarkable democratic
framework, where every community has the freedom to preserve its own culture
and heritage. He remarked, “The harmonious co-existence of various communities
with diverse cultural practices within CADC, is a shining example of our shared
values of mutual respect and understanding.” He further praised the people of
Mizoram for fostering an atmosphere of peace and harmony, which has made the
state one of the most peaceful in the country.
