Nirupam Chakma appointed as Member of NCST; Honored by Chakma District BJP.

Kamalanagar, 11 March, 2024 : In a historic moment for the Chakma community, Shri Nirupam Chakma, former Minister of State and 5-times MLA of Mizoram and the sitting Member of Chakma Autonomous District Council, has been appointed as a Member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) by the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu on the 9th March, 2024.

Nirupam Chakma, the first Minister of State from the Chakma Community in Mizoram, embarked on his political journey in 1987 when he was elected uncontested from  the erstwhile Chawngte (ST) Assembly Constituency and has now achieved the distinction of being the first from his community to hold this prestigious national post.

Today, the leaders of Chakma District Bharatiya Janata Party (CDBJP) along with their party workers organized a Felicitation Programme at the residence of Shri Nirupam Chakma in Kamalanagar, the headquarters of Chakma Autonomous District Council, to congratulate and honor Shri Nirupam Chakma for his remarkable achievement.

Expressing their joy and gratitude, the CDBJP issued a press communiqué extending congratulations to Shri Nirupam Chakma who is also the incumbent District President in the Bharatiya Janata Party of Chakma Autonomous District Council in Mizoram. They conveyed their appreciation to the Hon'ble President of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for recognizing the seasoned politician's outstanding contributions.

The CDBJP also extended thanks to Shri JP Nadda Ji, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Rituraj Sinha Ji, National Secretary, BJP and others, for their support. In their statement, the CDBJP expressed high hopes that Shri Nirupam Chakma would dedicate his efforts to the welfare, development, and upliftment of scheduled tribes and other minority communities across India.
